The appearance of the nose can impact self-confidence for adolescents and teens. When the size or shape of their nose creates an unbalanced facial appearance, teenagers can feel self-conscious. To achieve a more attractive nose and improved self-esteem, teen rhinoplasty may be the right solution for some young people. At Dallas Facial Plastic Surgery Center, we offer adolescent and teen nose job surgery at our facility in Irving, TX.

The teen years can be full of changes and there is a large emphasis on appearance. Teens with bumps, humps or an odd tip on their nose may be hyper-focused on the central feature of their face. For many, undergoing plastic surgery can not only change their facial appearance, but how they see themselves. Teen rhinoplasty can boost self-esteem and confidence, which are some of the most attractive features a young adult can possess.

Dr. Stefan Shuaib is a respected, experienced facial plastic surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty. His meticulous attention to detail and perfectionist attitude are ideal traits for his profession. He utilizes advanced techniques for reshaping the nose and ensuring the proper function, which can create the desired results for adult and teen rhinoplasty.

When Is a Teen Nose Job Appropriate?

Any cosmetic surgery is a major decision, especially for a teen and their parents. Thousands of teens undergo plastic surgery every year, but the most common procedure is teen rhinoplasty. The first consideration is age – the nose should be fully developed before a young person has rhinoplasty. This is different for every patient, but usually it is around age 15 for females and 16 for males.

Dr. Shuaib is dedicated to educating his patients and ensuring a cosmetic procedure is right for them. This is especially true for teen plastic surgery. He will meet with the teen and their parents or guardian to discuss the procedure in detail and discuss expectations, which can help determine whether a teen nose job is a good fit.

Teen rhinoplasty can be a wonderful gift to a young person to improve the function and appearance of their nose. To schedule a cosmetic nose surgery consultation with Dr. Shuaib, contact our Irving, TX, office at Dallas Facial Plastic Surgery Center.

RHINOPLASTY FAQ

How is rhinoplasty performed?

Rhinoplasty involves changing the shape of the nose. Grafts are utilized to achieve desired changes. Grafts help shape the nose and hold it in place to not deteriorate over time. Grafts are taken frequently from the septum. Occasionally grafts are taken from the ear or the temporal region. For revision rhinoplasty or for significant bridge augmentation, rib grafts are needed.

Occasionally Allograft is utilized as a graft. This is a donor rib cartilage that has been processed to be used in surgery. There is no rejection risk for the allograft, it alleviates the need to harvest cartilage from a secondary site, and it can shorten the duration of the surgery.

My rhinoplasties are mainly performed “open”. What that means is that there will be a small three mm incision over the columella. This incision heals extremely well and is almost invisible 3-6 months after the surgery. If there is a nostril reduction or “alar base reduction” planned, there will be additional incisions on the outside of the nostrils. These incisions are hidden in a natural skin fold and heal very well.

Will there be bruising?

There may be mild bruising which resolves after 7-10 days. Easily concealed with light make up.

Will there be a lot of pain?

Typically pain is mild to moderate. Vast majority of patients do not require pain medicine 2 days after the operation.
