Lost volume in the skin and face can result in an older, sunken facial appearance. Facial fillers are an excellent non-surgical option for replacing lost volume, but some treatments may only last six or nine months. Radiesse® is a different type of dermal filler than the many hyaluronic acid fillers on the market, offering both immediate volume and increased collagen as a result. Dallas Facial Plastic Surgery Center offers Radiesse injections for facial contouring at our facility in Irving, TX.
What Makes Radiesse Different?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers collect moisture under the skin to add volume, but they do not increase natural collagen production. Collagen makes up about 80% of the skin structure, and when it starts to decrease as we age, the skin loses thickness, firmness and volume. To restore more youthful skin for longer than HA treatments, increased collagen is needed.
Radiesse is a different type of filler as it is categorized as a biostimulator. It uses calcium microspheres that are injected into the skin tissue to stimulate the production of collagen. The microspheres are embedded in the skin structure, which does create instant volume in the skin. The longer lasting results are from the collagen that is produced to surround the microspheres, creating natural firmness and volume. There are other biostimulator fillers – Sculptra® is one we offer at Dallas Facial Plastic Surgery Center, but they do not offer the immediate volume increase of Radiesse injections.
Face and Hand Wrinkle Reduction
Radiesse injections can be used to plump under lines and wrinkles on the face, as well as add volume in sunken areas. Nasolabial folds and lines around the mouth can dissipate with Radiesse treatment. Injections can also be placed under the eyes, cheeks and temples to add volume for a more youthful facial appearance. Radiesse injections are also FDA-approved for hand rejuvenation to minimize the appearance of tendons, veins and wrinkles.
If you want to enjoy the benefits of more collagen in your skin for a youthful appearance, Radiesse injections may be right for you. To learn more about our facial filler and collagen induction treatments, contact us at Dallas Facial Plastic Surgery Center in Irving, TX, to schedule an appointment.
