Xeomin Injections
Furrows on the brow, crow’s feet and other dynamic lines on your face can affect your appearance. These lines appear as you get older and the skin loses elasticity, showing age and even changing your facial expression. Neuromodulator injections offer a solution for smoothing away dynamic lines. At Dallas Facial Plastic Surgery Center, we offer multiple brands of neuromodulator cosmetic injectables, including Xeomin® injections.
Xeomin is a botulinum toxin, a neuromodulator that is FDA-approved for the treatment of frown lines (the 11s between the brow). It works similar to Botox®, relaxing targeted muscles that cause the glabellar lines to appear between the eyebrows. Xeomin injections have been FDA-approved for other medical treatments as well, and it is used for off-label cosmetic enhancements.
The main difference between Xeomin and Botox or other neuromodulators is the purity of the formula. Xeomin does not contain the same proteins as Botox, which could cause sensitivity in some patients. Xeomin is able to obtain similar results as Botox, Dysport® or Jeuveau®, all neuromodulators, but may be a better choice as an alternative to Botox.
Furrowed Brow Treatment
If you have furrows on your brow, Xeomin injections can help smooth them away in a quick office visit. Furrowed brow treatment only takes about 15 minutes. The injections are carefully placed to target the glabellar muscles that create the 11s on your brow. There is no downtime needed after the treatment; you can return to your normal activities. The neurotoxin is absorbed into the muscle and nerves within a day, and the effects are visible within a week. The muscles begin to relax as the neurotoxin stops muscle contractions in the brow, smoothing away those dynamic lines.
Like other neuromodulators, Xeomin effects last about 3-4 months. To maintain a smooth brow, patients need repeated injections, usually 2-3 times per year.
